Position: National Specification Sales Manager

Location: NSW Australia

Department: Specification & Design

Reports to: General Manager

Position purpose:

To secure Specification for SAS products and systems through direct contact with clients, specifiers, contractors and other related stakeholders.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • To adhere to Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Supply monthly Sales reports.
  • Attend Monthly Managers meetings.
  • Carry out any reasonable request of management
  • Create and implement effective direct sales strategies and lead nationwide specification sales personnel toward achievement of corporate sales objectives.
  • Develop competencies and processes required to create an effective and efficient sales organization.
  • Provide leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching and development while comparing sales results to goals and taking appropriate action to correct when necessary.
  • Ensure effective hiring, orientation, training, development and retention of sales and education of staff.
  • Provide supervision through field visits, observations and measurement of results to include performance appraisals.
  • Proactively identify changes in metal ceiling market, delivery systems, and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
  • Manage to meet/exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
  • Establish effective relationships and collaborations with other departments (Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing and Design, etc.) to address key business issues and opportunities.
  • Maintain competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies.
  • Attend industry meetings, seminars, and conferences as appropriate.

Relationships:

Internally the role is closely related with the General Manager, Sales Reps. and Spec. Designer, as well as the Project Management team.

Externally they are in close contact with architects and interior designers.

Knowledge:

Several years’ experience in sales roles within the SAS International company.

Possesses a good knowledge of economics and how current market trends influence sales
Is persuasive and can easily influence others
Has good leadership and communications skills, both written and verbal
Is proactive and anticipates potential problems before they can hinder a company’s success
Possesses good customer service skills
Is able to develop new sales strategies based upon prior experience
Maintains a positive attitude and constantly encourages others
Is loyal to the company

Authority:

In an agreed process,

  • To hire and terminate employment of subordinates
  • Approve quotes
  • Approve purchase orders.

  • For 4 head of staff
  • 2016 budget of 16.0 Mil AUD Sales revenue with 8% EBIT
  • 44 CPD presentations National
  • 2 Sector Specification Healthcare
  • 2 Sector Specification Transport
  • Successfully manage a team of 4+ individuals
  • Plan a growth and succession strategy for certain specification team members
  • Develop specification markets in ACT & WA
  • Grow specification market in NSW, VIC & QLD
  • Complete external accounting course
